Women trained on Mushroom Cultivation and Value addition

A two days training on ‘Mushroom Cultivation & Value addition of horticulture crops’ was organized by Central Institute of Horticulture, DAC & FW, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Govt. of India, Medziphema, Nagaland, for the women of Sabalie Womens’ organization at Chumukedima and CIH on 23rd and 24th April 2019.

The programme started off with a brief welcome address and highlight of the activities of the institute by Ms. Vinika. K.Aomi (Post Harvest Technologist) .On day one the trainees were trained on the various prospects of taking up Mushroom cultivation and were given hands-on demonstration by Ms. Marina (Senior Technical Assistant-CIH). Mushroom spawns were also distributed to the trainees. Miss. Imtisenla Walling, Technical Officer, AMFU Jharnapani, ICAR Nagaland Centre apprised the participants on Agromet Advisory and its usefulness in depth and how its usage could help the farmers in making decisions and efficient mobilization of farm resources in the changing climate scenario. She also encouraged the farmers to avail the opportunity of ICT medium like whatsapp. Day two of the training consisted of hands on demonstration on value addition of horticulture crops such preparation of pickle and fruit squash by Mrs. V. Kenny Rhetso (Chief Technical Officer) KVK Dimapur and Ms. Vinika.k.Aomi (Post Harvest Technologist -CIH), the training was organized so as to impart technical knowledge on processing and value addition.

Altogether 110 trainees attended and participated in the training programme. Ms Vinika.K. Aomi, Post Harvest Technologist and other staff members of CIH coordinated the training programme and also collected feedback from participants.
