Farmers Interface Meet 2017

A farmers interface meet was organized by Central Institute of Horticulture, Nagaland on 6th & 7th October, 2017 at its campus in Medziphema. Shri. Alan Gonmei (IAS), Secretary (Horticulture), Govt. of Nagaland graced the occasion as Chief Guest. In his address, he stressed the importance of imparting employable skills in horticulture which would help in generating employment opportunities in the horticulture sector.

Director CIH Dr. Lallan Ram, in his welcome address presented the progress and achievements of the Institute over the years. The keynote address was presented by Dr. N K Mohan, Chief Consultant CIH where as brief remarks were delivered by Dr. D J Rajkhowa, Jt. Director, ICAR Nagaland and Dr. N K Patle, Dy. Commissioner (Hort.), DAC&FW, Ministry of Agriculture & FW, New Delhi. An exhibition programme was also organized where thirteen exhibitors from different parts of North East exhibited their activities in horticulture. The Chief Guest alongwith other dignitaries visited and interacted with the exhibitors.

The event was marked by sharing of success stories by farmers, entrepreneurs and trainees promote by the Institute. Awards were distributed for the best demonstration plot and best accredited nursery. The certificates of skill development course on floriculture and nursery accreditation were distributed during the inaugural programme. NEZCC Dimapur sponsored two cultural troops and presented two cultural items during the programme. The programme ended with vote of thanks from Mr. Md. Manzar Hossain and the programme was compered by Ms. Imtinaro Jamir.

The interactive session with the farmers was held on 7th October 2017 where representatives of farmer groups and govt. depts. from Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim & Tripura participated in the meet. Dr. N K Patle, Dy. Comm. (Hort.), DAC&FW, Director CIH, Dr. Lallan Ram & Dr. N K Mohan, Chief Consultant CIH addressed to the queries and issues raised during the farmers meet.

Meanwhile Director, CIH expressed his thankfulness to all the participants, govt. officials, exhibitors, NEZCC, invitees and farmers for their support and cooperation in organizing the farmers interface meet.

N E Kisan Mela cum Horticulture Stakeholders Meet 2018

NE KISAN MELA ORGANISED BY CIH, NAGALAND

 

                                                     Central Institute of Horticulture, Nagaland, organized a two days “North East Kisan Mela Cum Horticulture Stake Holders Meet” at its campus at Medziphema, Nagaland on 22nd & 23rd Jan., 2018. The event was inaugurated by Shri. Jalaj Shrivastava, IAS, Additional secretary (Hort.), DAC&FW, Govt. of India. In his inaugural address, he mentioned that our country is the second largest producer of fruits and vegetables in the world and we are blessed with vivid climatic condition which is suitable for cultivation of various types of horticultural crops. He emphasizes that we must capitalize these blessings aggressively for progressive horticulture and he also stressed on bamboo processing in the form of compressed bamboo bricks, beekeeping, GI tags for crops that has unique traits, organic cultivation, processing and value addition. He also mentioned that horticulture sector has eminence scope for everyone from farmers, entrepreneurs to landless labourer such as mushroom cultivation, bee keeping, vermi-composting, multilayered nursery, slanting cultivation, agribusiness clinic, logistic, processing and value addition.
