Farmers Trained On Scientific Bee-Keeping

FARMERS TRAINED ON ‘SCIENTIFIC BEE KEEPING’

 

Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH) and Arya Gramoudhyog Sansthan, Baghpat (U.P), a life member society of National Bee Board (NBB), DAC, Govt. of India, New Delhi jointly organized 7 days farmers training on Scientific Bee keeping for the farmers of Manipur State at CIH, Medziphema from 15th -21th Feb. 2018.

 

Dr. N.K. Patle, Dy. Comm (Hort.) & Director incharge, CIH,Nagaland, DAC &FW, New Delhi has highlighted the farmers in promoting bee keeping among the community as bees plays a major role in enhancing horticulture crop production through pollination and also bee keeping as a profitable enterprise for farmers to earn additional income.

The resource person Shri. Yogendra Punia, Director, Ambrosia Natural Products (India) Pvt. Ltd., Delhi imparted training on various aspects of bee keeping such as importance of honey bees and its colony management, impact of insect pollinators on horticulture crops, pest of honey bees and their management, Apiary site selection and hands on demonstration on handling of scientific tools and equipments transferring of bee colony from traditional to scientific hives, handling and up care of scientific hives. Visit to Multi utility centre, NBHM, located at 5th Mile, Dimapur was also done as a part of the training. Altogether 21 trainees from Manipur attended the training programme.
