Exhibition cum Buyers Sellers Meet at CIH, Nagaland on 14th September 2018
Central Institute of Horticulture, Nagaland organized an Exhibition cum Buyers Sellers Meet programme on 14th September 2018 at its campus in Medziphema. The programme was organized with the objective to create a platform for the buyers and growers to interact and discuss on possible market linkage. The event has also helped both the parties in understanding the market dynamics and planning production/procurement as per market requirement.
The programme was formally inaugurated by Shri. M K Mero, Principal Secretary (Horticulture), Government of Nagaland who graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Dr. B N S Murthy, Horticulture Commissioner, Dept. of Agriculture, Cooperation & Farmers Welfare graced the programme as Guest of Honor. Brief remark was given by Dr. B C Deka, Director, ATARI-ICAR, Meghalaya while Director CIH, Dr. N K Patle delivered the welcome address during the inaugural programme.
The exhibition was participated by 28 exhibitors comprising of farmers groups, entrepreneurs, govt. departments and private sector involved in production, processing and marketing of horticulture crops. The exhibition programme also helped the buyers get a glimpse of the products/ produce available in the region. Variety of fresh and processed horticulture products was available for display and sale for the general public and participants of the programme.
A buyers and sellers meet was organized on 14th September 2018 after the inaugural programme where in a number of buyers from Mumbai, Delhi, Nagpur and Guwahati interacted with farmers groups from different states of North East. The meet provided a platform for the business houses and growers to have direct face to face discussion and work out avenues for procurement of horticulture crops from the farmers. The meet was facilitated by staffs of CIH, Nagaland.
The event was also marked by laying of foundation stone of proposed farmers hostel at CIH, Nagaland by Shri. M K Mero, Principal Secretary, Horticulture, Govt. of Nagaland. The mini processing unit and mushroom unit were also inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Guest.
The event had participation of 11 buyers, 227 farmers/entrepreneurs and 34 Officials from different states of North East.
