CIH, Nagaland organizes awareness programme at Tuensang, Nagaland
Central Institute of Horticulture, Nagaland jointly with District Executive Force (DEF), Tuensang, Nagaland organized a one day Farmers Awareness Programme on From Farm to Market on 17th May 2019 at Conference Hall, SP Office, Tuensang Town. Shri. Bharat Laxman IPS, SP Tuensang graced the occasion as Special Guest.
During his address, he urged the farmers to produce quality products so that it can fetch good market price. He further emphasized the importance of producing horticulture crops organically so that it can be branded and marketed effectively.
Dr. Pritpal Kaur IPS, SDPO, Tuensang and chairperson of the inaugural programme highlighted that through value addition and food processing the farmers would be able to generate additional revenue and would also help several others in employing themselves.
Dr. Shisarenla Aier, SMS, Horticulture, KVK Tuensang delivered a lecture on cultivation practices of large cardamom. She gave a detailed presentation on production technologies for cultivation of large cardamom. Mr. Prabin Das, Marketing Specialist, CIH delivered a lecture on supply chain and marketing of horticulture crops. Ms. Vinika K Aomi, Post Harvest Technologist, CIH highlighted the importance of value addition for reducing post harvest loss. In the practical session, she demonstrated to the farmers the entire process on preparation of ginger candy and chilli pickle.
A total of 68 farmers participated in the awareness programme on from farm to market.
