International Agriculture & Horti Expo 01-03 Aug 2019

PARTICIPATION IN INTERNATIONAL AGRICULTURE & HORTI EXPO

The International Agriculture & Horti Expo-2019 was organized by NNS Media Group on 01-03 August 2019 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, India.

The 3 day exhibition was organized with focus on Agricultural & Horticultural Advancements and International Trade; Protected Cultivation (Greenhouse), Irrigation & Farming Technologies; Organic Farming and Fresh Fruits, Vegetables, Cereals etc.; International Seeds, Fertilizers & Pesticides; Processed Foods & Post Harvest Technologies; Agri Finance, Insurance & Research Institutes; Cold Storage & Technologies.

The International Agriculture & Horti Expo-2019 provided a platform for State Horticulture Missions; Horticulture Mission for North East & Himalayan States; National Bamboo Mission, Agriculture Departments of Various States; Nodal Agencies; Tractors / Harvesters / Agricultural equipments Manufacturers, International Seeds, Fertilizers, Pesticides Manufacturers; Cultivation, Irrigation & Farming Technologies providers; Fresh & organic Fruits & Vegetable Suppliers; Agribusiness Consultants, Progressive Farmers, Consumers and other government departments to display and discuss their latest innovations in Agriculture and Horticulture sector.

PARTICIPATION OF CIH, NAGALAND

Central Institute of Horticulture, Nagaland participated as an exhibitor in the International Agriculture & Horti Expo 2019. The Institute highlighted the various activities being carried out as per the mandates of the Institute. The focus horticulture crops available in the NEH region were displayed. Folders and other publications on production technologies, package of practices PHM on fruits, flowers, vegetables and spices were displayed and distributed during the programme. Quality planting material of major fruit crops propagated in the Institute was also displayed. Success stories of skill development course and other success stories were displayed through video in the event.

Awareness programme on marketing and value addition 30&31 Aug 2019

CIH, Nagaland organizes Farmers Awareness Programme at Meghalaya

Central Institute of Horticulture, Nagaland organized a 02 days Farmers Awareness Programme on Marketing and Value Addition of Horticulture Crops at District Horticulture Office, Nongpoh, Ri-Bhoi, Meghalaya on 30th & 31st August 2019.

The programme was organized in collaboration of Dept. of Horticulture, Govt. of Meghalaya. The objective of the programme was to create awareness on avenues for marketing of horticulture crops and generating income through value added products.

The inaugural programme was graced by Dr. Venkatesh N Hubballi, Director, Directorate of Cashewnut and Cocoa Development, Kochi who in his address shared insights on potential of cashew production and processing in north east region. Smt. Jean Sohliya, Dy. Director (M & FM), Dept. of Horticulture, in her address, highlighted upon the initiatives taken by Meghalaya horticulture dept for the upliftment and growth of farmers. Brief remark was given by Shri. M L Suiam (MAS), OSD, Directorate of Food Processing, Govt. of Meghalaya.

Earlier, Director, CIH, Dr. N K Patle welcomed all the participants and gave a brief presentation on the programmes and achievements of the institute.

Lectures were delivered by Mr. Shivanjan Dalmia, Managing Director, Greenfields Pvt. Ltd. & Mr. Prabin Das, Marketing Specialist, CIH. A practical demonstration on preparation of value added products of pineapple and ginger was given Ms. Vinika K Aomi, Post Harvest Technologist, CIH.

Altogether, 51 farmers from four FPCs from Ri-Bhoi & Garo Hills districts of Meghalaya attended the awareness programme.
