CENTRAL INSTITUTE OF HORTICULTURE CONDUCTS THREE DAYS FARMERS TRAINING IN ARUNACHAL PRADESH
Three days farmer training on “Integrated pest and disease management of horticultural crops for doubling farmers’ income” was organized by Central Institute of Horticulture, DAC & FW, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, GOI, Medziphema, in collaboration with Khrishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) of East Siang and College of Horticulture and Forestry (CHF) under Central Agriculture University, (CAU) Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh, w.e.f 31st Oct to 2nd Nov 2018.
Addressing the inaugural session, CHF, Dean, Dr. P. Debnath emphasised on integrated pest management through organic pesticide and farming system to ensure quality production. He also advised the participants to take up newer technologies in the field of agriculture, horticulture and animal husbandry for better returns. Training in-charge from CIH, Dr. Moasosang Longkumer, highlighted the activities of CIH for welfare of the farmers and also encouraged the farmers to adopt integrated farming practices for sustainable income.
The training topics were selected according to needs of the farmers of the region and the resource persons were from various faculties of CHF, scientist and subject matter specialist from KVK, Pasighat. The training included power point presentation and field visit to the research farms. Altogether, 52 farmers from Boleng, Panging, Koyu and Banggo villagers of Siang, Lower siang and Dibang valley district participated in the three days training programme.
