REPORT ON 4 DAYS FARMERS TRAINING HELD IN MIZORAM,
IN COLLABORATION WITH KVK, SERCHHIP

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Serchhip, Mizoram in a collaborative and sponsored farmers training programme by Central Institute of Horticulture, DAC & FW, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Govt. of India, Medziphema, Nagaland organized a 4 days farmers training programmes on various horticulture aspect in 4 different villages under Serchip district of Mizoram.
The training was conducted w.e.f 23rd Feb to 5th March 2021 (programme scjedule enclosed) for famers from 4 villages under E. Lungdar block. The training topic comprised of scientific cultivation of important horticulture crops such as banana, off season cultivation of tomato and disease management. The farmers were also given training through field demonstration and practical training on various cultivation technologies of banana and off season vegetables. In each training 30 participants attended the training progamme making a total of 120 participants in 4 trainings conducted.
The resource person was Mr. Vanlalhumaka, Subject Matter Specialist (Horticulture) from KVK Serchhip. Due to the prevailing COVID Pandemic experts from other organization and department were not invited. He delivered the training in mizo dialect through power point presentation and demonstration. Each training session was followed by interactive session between the expert and the participants.
The training programme has proved to be successful due to the overwhelming response from the farmers and timely support by Central Institute of Horticulture, Nagaland by sponsoring the training programme.
